Adding Dvd(vob,ifo)files to MyDVD

I'm having a problem with MyDVD 8 . I want to make a dvd using dvd(vob,ifo) and an mpeg file taken from the different workout dvd's that I like to use(I hate having to stop and change discs grrr!). I already have the dvd files on my hard-drive. When I try to add the .mpg movie to a new dvd project it correctly allows me to pick and preview the movie I want and correctly adds it to the project preview screen. When I try to add the dvd(vob,ifo) movies a screen pops up showing the movies and how long they are but when I click ok it simply adds a black box with VIDEO_TS as the title. It doesn't show any disc space taken up on the prospective dvd. If I try to preview the movie again it will let me but the Project preview screen blacks out and stays that way, even after restarting mydvd8 and re-opening the project. I've tried straight adding and then burning but the burning process just stops and doesn't proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you google to VideoHelp, they have extensive discussions of this kinda issue, and some freebie software tools to convert files to types EMC8 is happy with.

I do not believe any version of EMC8 supports the use of VOB files. At least, they have not worked for me. But what has worked is copying the VOB files to the hard drive and then simply rename them to mpg. Note, renaming to mpg has not worked for all users. The other alternative is to insert the source DVD into your computer's DVD drive, open Media Import, and capture the video to the hard drive as a mpg file.

Thanks for the quick posts! I'll try both approaches and see which works. It seems silly that mydvd8 can't handle vob,ifo when disc copier will, but whatever.

It is not silly when you consider that myDVD and DiscCopier have completely different functions.
