Also getting "Recorder is in use by Roxio Drag to Disc Kernel" error!

CDburner

Recommended Posts

:) I currently have Roxio version 6 (on a Dell Dimension/Windows ME OS) and I too am getting the error message that "Your Recorder is in use by Roxio Drag to Disc Kernel. Close any other applications that may be using the recorder or eject the Drag to Disc Media" This all started to happen when I was using a non rewritable (CD-R) and always burned using the "Creator Classic" application and never had any problems. For some reason I decided to experiment with the "Drag to Disc" application and it then formatted my blank disc and locked my recorder! I also tried burning using the "Audio Central" app. and I received a similar error: "IDE5232(D:) has been reserved by another application. Please select a different device." Since my disc is non rewritable I can't erase the disc and formatting. Plus I have no way of changing the recorder selection drop down. Please let me know what I need to do to resolve this or what other specs you will need since I've seen this type of situation posted before.

I spoke with with tech support (customer service) and they said version 6 is expired in terms of providing support !!!! I only got the burner this last Christmas!

Thanks

This error message usually means that you are using a cd that has been formatted .

D2D is the only project that requires a cd to be formatted and when inserted into the drive will take control of it.

Remove the cd from the drive and insert a blank unformatted one.

If you don't have an icon in the tray (lower right-hand corner) that you can right-click on to eject, and can't get rid of it from opening "my computer", right-click > eject; then reboot, and during start-up before windows loads, you should be able to eject it manually from the burner drive.

Then carefully put the disc somewhere else, such as the trashcan; and I'd suggest unistallling Drag2Disc since, like all Packet-Writing programs, it's most efficient use is to permantly LOSE the data.
