App Crashes When Exporting To Computer (Uknown Error)

pec0085

Question

Application seems to work fine until I try to export to computer (regardless of format). It will run for 5 min and get 10% complete then crashes and provided the "unknown error. Application will close at this time". It writes the file in WMV format but it is not the complete video. It did work once but I think it was a fluke. Is there a setting or process I need to follow that is not documented?

Thanks for your help

Is the PC you are installing on connected to the Internet???

(during the install)

A little variation on the install goes like this...

This is extensive, but it what I suggest...

(Add Nothing! - Skip Nothing!)

Unplug your Roxio Capture Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Download and install the
Uninstaller. Then run it in
Moderate Mode
to remove any traces of Roxio. (it may not show any)

Create a New User Account with Administrator Privileges.

Turn OFF any A/V & Firewall.

Reboot and log on to that new account.

Copy your entire disc to a new folder on your HDD.

In that new folder, right click on Setup.exe and select Properties.

Under the Compatibility tab, make sure
nothing
is checked!

Right click Setup.exe and select Open.

Allow it to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio not Windows)

Use the Default Locations!

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Jim,

I spent 2 hrs on the phone with support last night where they attempted to install several times following a process similar to what you proposed. It is pointing to an incompatibility issue with windows 8.1 and they submitted it to engineering. Are you seeing similar problems from others running 8.1?

Sorry that didn't work!

Now we need to look deeper ;)

Describe your PC, like I have in my signature block.

Describe your Project, total time and source (capture or import from files)

Run the Repair again, it may actually take a couple of time to work.

After that try another format, mpeg or something like that.

I have since tried to uninstall and reinstall application. It apparently uninstalled but when I tried to reinstall, it says that the install was interrupted and to try again. Now I cannot even install the application. I am running on a Samsung Series 5 Ultra, Win 8.1, 8GB mem, 64 bit, intel I5. Now I am really confused and any help you can provided would be appreciated

Not at all, I have run it on several 8.1 machines now...

You did not answer me about Internet!

There is an error in your file indicating it could not reach the Roxio Server, which is why I asked.

If has been some time since I ran the install and watched it closely :P IF it asks to Update near the beginning, choose No.

Best bet would be to do a proper repair:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your Roxio Capture Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.
