Toast 11.2 With Os X 10.9.3 Still Crash.

edbeta

Question

I have continu to investigate Toast 11.2 crash with OS X 10.9.3 with others files types that mean not only Apple Prores but even H264 Blu-ray Quicktime compliant but Toast still crash.

I am a little surprise my original post have vanish how can we help each others if tests results get deleted i don't think i broke any forums rules by posting my questions and tests results.

I have also take the time to send a bug report to Apple after making this post and also do a bug report to Corel , OS X 10.9.3 is a big Update with deep change inside vs OS X 10.9.2.

Problem solved , it appear the Cuda OS X Compatible Drivers work but conflict with Toast 11 so after having re-install everything exept those drivers Toast 11 encode fast on this NVIDIA card.

I have lost export encoding speed boost in preference of Toast 11 but i have never use-it anyway and since Apple support Open CL only probably Toast DVD dont use extra drivers NVIDIA.

Conclusion stay with Apple OS X drivers For AMD Open CL or Apple OS X drivers For NVIDIA Cards Supported ... that will avoid to you go my long and hard way to learn Apple Restrictions.

I'm not aware of any of your posts being deleted. I'm also using Toast 11.2 with 10.9.3 without crashes (mostly), but I'm not using ProRes files. What are you having Toast do when it crashes and at what point does the crash occur? Sorry if you've already discussed this with me.

My system specification are : Mac Pro 2012 12 Cores - 64GB Ram - Graphic Card EVGA GE FORCE 680 Mac Edition - Mac OS X 10.9.3 - FCP X 10.1.1 - Motion 5.1 - Compressor 4.1.1 - Toast 11.2 .

Steps to reproduce the Bug : Launch Toast 11.2 - Click Add Files (Icon at Bottom above Destination ) select a QuickTime file " example Prores or H264 for Blu-ray - Click Burn Red Icon = Crash .....

To be clear Toast will start to Encode or Multiplex depending of the source file but after a few seconds Toast Crash and Show a screen indicate a Bug Report Have Been Send to Apple - Click Ok.

The Fun Parts is as Follow : If i bring the same file in Toast DVD ( From Mac App Store ) to get an DVD HD and even Burn It on a Real Blu-ray disc , It Work Perfect so i am puzzle and ask your help.

If it is working for you what is your workflow ..... OS X 10.9.3 is a big change inside Mavericks ..... 10.9.0 to 10.9.2 have see majors changes ... have you install Toast Before OS X 10.9.3 update after.

It is very puzzling that Toast crashes soon after either encoding or multiplexing. What that suggests to me is a communication problem with the location of the Roxio Converted Items folder. Have you tried changing the location of that folder in Toast preferences?

I have put Roxio Converted Items in the Home Public Folder of Mac OS X and Streamer Videos is inside Documents Foleder of Mac OS X.

By default they where both inside the Documents Folder of Mac OS X but in Toast Preferences i can only choice where Converted Items Go.

Also in the past i have always put Roxio Converted Items on an External Hard-Drive to avoid using the Boot-Drive ( Pro Never the Boot-Drive).

Toast uses the converted items folder for temporary files as well as encodings. Since it crashes when it first attempts to write to the hard drive that's where I would do my troubleshooting. Maybe go back to the default in the Documents folder. Does Toast DVD have an option in preferences to change the folder location and are you using the same location as with Toast 11? Also, have you checked if it helps to trash the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder and relaunching Toast? Those get corrupted easily.

You also may have seen (or written) posts about quality problems with Toast encoding ProRes files. That's a different issue but one you should know about.

I have even done the Install of OS X 10.9.4 latest beta and that still not working , also have revove Toast Burn and Toast DVD from Mac App Store and still dont work.

I may have to clone my OS X 10.9.3 System and do a Clean Install on my internal Boot-Drive and start from there but expect me to be offline for many hours if i do-it.
