Creating Video Files Compatible With Mac

queticoguy

Question

Although I have used Creator 2010 for many years to produce slide shows with VideoWave and exported to MyDVD to create DVD's. Now I am starting to just produce a video file out of VideoWave which I can move to a flashdrive and let people view on their PC. My current problem is that the video file produced is an .avi file and does not play on a Mac. There are many file options to choose from as the output from VideoWave but I'm not sure if one of those would work. Bottom line I am trying to produce a video file out of VideoWave that could be shown on both a PC and Mac. Any help would be appreciated.

mpg2 would be one place to start. Do you have that ability? Here are others (link)

Do you really have Easy Media Creator 10 or perhaps 2010 or 10 LE or 10SE? EMC 10 is old and some of the newer codecs (mpg4) may not be available. For the SE or LE versions, they are OEM and also may not be available because of the limits applied.

Thanks for the reply. I have Roxio Creator 2010, version 1.2.193 SP2; 5.0.0.0. Videowave (which is a package within Roxio Creator) has a list of file types that you can choose when exporting. The default comes up ARCHOS MPEG4 (AVI) That is the one I used. After reading your reply I tried one called MPEG-2 for DVD. That gets the same error message on my Mac as the default file, Required CODEC is not present, or something to that effect. What type of video file are these UTube videos? It seems like they play on everything. I'm beginning to believe that issue is that Roxio's Videowave does not have an export file type option that works with other computers. Would that be where I am at? I don't know if a later version of Roxio would be the answer or not. I could not find anyplace on their website that allows general questions like that. What do you think?
