Question

Hi there all,

I have a strange situation, I have been burning HD "video files" of rafting trips using Toast 11 as data disks making sure PC/MAC are selected. The file is .mov, clients drag and drop the 2-3gb file onto their desktops and watch it there. However, videos have been freezing on PC machines always around the 27 minute mark. The same file on a MAC plays out perfectly. If I put the file onto a thumb drive and drop it directly onto the PC desktop it plays out no problem with VLC on the PC. Likewise when I burn using disk utility, the file plays out no problem on the PC...bizzare? I have just started the job and not sure what on earth could be happening...any ideas? I love toast!

Well, here's what I'd be doing.

Copy the file from the DVD, as you want to do, and also put a copy of the same file from the thumb drive onto the PC. Now start with the obvious. Are the file sizes identical? Use a utility like, "Beyond Compare" to compare the two files and see if there are internal differences in the file data.

Time-wise, how long are the video files?

I'm a PC user, so I'm not going to be much help other than looking for a starting point. Does the "disk utility" created disc also work on the Mac? Is there a reason to use Toast over the "disk utility"?
