I bought the new cables today

however the capture software does not seem to recognize the input, and still says that there is no signal:

I tried to see if hooking up the hdmi would change anything and changing the settings for the display (to see if it worked on 576p, 720p, 1080p) (but nothing)

when I moved the quality slider it seemed to recognize the component input but still said there was no signal

and whenever I tried to switch back or open up the options menu it would just crash and shut it self down

The TV/Monitor would have to be set to Component. Don't rely on it auto sensing its' input ;)

However! You still have the Red, 'No Signal' and until it shows Ready (Green or Red) you cannot expect anything to work.

2 things...

1. Is to try a completely different Component Source! Use a DVD or BD Player.

(actually for this even an HDMI source would do - all I want to see is that Red No Signal to go away ;))

2. Is to do a proper repair:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

You are misreading the instructions, PS3 requires component cables and WILL NOT WORK with HDMI...

You cut off the picture which explains that you can 'leave the hdmi connected' to the OUTPUT side

We have no reason to lie or mislead you but if you are going to argue about everything, don't expect any more assistance...

You have all the "beginner logic" in place yet it does not work

You have 2 HDMI's hooked up. Too what?

Perhaps you need to disconnect EVERYTHING and try it by actually following the instructions -_-

Maybe you need to re-read the instructions yourself,

Because I will quote from the instructions manual I got: (thrid Line)

For The Playstation 3, Leave the HDMI Cable Connected

secondly Yes I did disconnect everything and tried different setups

The setup in your picture cannot work. You cannot use composite (yellow-red-white) cables, you must use component cables as shown in the instructions.

they are the same type of cables just different colour coding.

the YRW cables still go to my Tv's GBR input, that why I can see my ps3 on my Tv even though I am using "the wrong" cables

Even so, Why cant i switch sources?

Get a set of component cables, then let us know if you still have problems.

Okay,

After I reinstalled the software without virus scanner nothing happend

same with switching the orginal scource,

However I tried that trick again of improving the quality and it is actually showing a preview of my Ps3

however it is looking very choppy and bad with every now and then it is lagging

I tried to open up the option menu but caused to crash the program.

and when I tried to record the program also crashed.

current screen: http://imgur.com/xH76F9Z

I just noticed now the preview box is black but there should be a really pixaled/choppy an laggy view of my ps3
