Unable To Convert Avchd Files In Mac Os 10.9.4

I use a Canon Vixia HF10 video camera. I want to convert the file structure on the canon SD chip to quicktime movie files. In the camera I have several clips. When I place the card into my laptop and look at the file structure of the card, I receive the following structure. Canon/private/AVCHD. Toast does not recognize that file structure. However Quicktime does and opens up the AVCHD file showing all the clips.

I am having the same problem with Sony format AVCHD. I am trying to convert it using Toast 11 and it is telling me that the format is unrecognized. I downloaded a free trail of Wondershare and it not only recognized it but converted a large batch very quickly. I'm very frustrated and disappointed that I cannot convert AVCHD files.
