Cpscommontools.dll Was Not Found

Photosweet

Question

I can't launch the program PhotoSuite 7.0 because CPSCommonTools was not found. I read previous posts in here but these were not helpful. When I bought the program, it worked. Now I can't recall whether it was a CD that was mailed to me or rather an internet download. In either case I can't locate a CD for it nor do I have email records that go back that far. How can I get the program to work again, where can I get this missing dll?

You posted in PhotoShow part of the forums ! Do you have PhotoSuite as part of a version of Creator or did you buy it as a stand alone.?

Did you try to get it back from Windows Restore or from one of your backups?

I'm pretty sure you can't get it from Roxio anymore. :(

What operating system are you using. Are you using a Registry Cleaner?

I wanted just Photosuite 7 Platinum but it came with Easy Media Creator, which I never used. I have an older version of Photosuite (4.0 standard) which I still use because some of the features it has were removed in the "new and improved" version. But 4.0 standard doesn't have the photostitching feature so I wanted to see if Photosuite 7 could do it. System restore isn't working now for some reason. The installer for 7.0 is still on my c drive so I tried to reinstall it but it asks for the CD key which I can't find. I have Windows XP home edition 2002 SP3. I found a version of CPSCommontools.dll in another folder, the one for MGI Photosuite 4.0. I have combofix; is that a registry cleaner?

Did you read this before you installed and ran combofix? GET RID OF IT ! Why did you think you needed it?

Editors' Note: Please note that running this program without supervision of an experienced helper can cause your computer to not operate correctly.

You may have caused the problem. There may be a way of re-registering the .dll Read this.(link) I have never done this but it may be the only way. Wait to see if someone else has a better idea.

Sorry, Do you have someone to help? Can you afford to take the computer to a shop to fix it. They would not be able to get the program back in any case. If not, you may be out of luck.

As I understand it, you have four impediments to running the program properly:..

1) There is an error that one of the .dll is missing. The dll can be de-registered and then registered using the Microsoft procedure that is beyond your technical expertise (That is where a friend comes in.).

2) The program cannot be removed and reinstalled because the disc is missing and the download can;t be found.

3) The cd install key is missing or has been lost. Download Belarc Advisor (free) to determine if it can pick up the CD key.

4) Windows Restore doesn't work on your computer. It may be due to the use of Combofix. A full reinstall of Windows may be in order.

Does everything else work? If everything else works, I would suggest that you try to make a panoramic image or a collage using Windows Photo Gallery which is probably already on your computer. Go here for more information.(link)

What version of Easy Media Creator did you buy?

Good luck, if you decide to try some of the above, let us know what you did and the outcome. . If you don;t want to continue the discussion, let us know that also.

Apologies for the delay in responding.  I gave up completely on Photosuite 7.  Still using PS 4.0 which is a really great program.  I'll install it on my new laptop that's running windows 10.  I'll follow the recommendation in the Rob C.'s post and provide feedback thereto.

Please do any additional postings in the proper forum for Photo Suite.   This forum is for PhotoShow. A completely different program.

Post it under Legacy Products - PhotoSuite 5.  - I just saw you did so.
