This is not Toast's fault. If you insert the disc and choose Disc Info from Toast's Recorder menu you'll see that Toast burned the correct info to the CD Text. However, computer's don't read CD Text when you insert an audio CD. What they do is search the Gracenote CDDB for online information about a disc that has the same number of tracks and track lengths as the one you inserted. If a match is found it then downloads that information to the Mac's cdinfo database file which is what iTunes reads and displays. You can edit the cdinfo database by entering new names in iTunes. You can also upload that information to Gracenote via iTunes and via Toast. There is a way to transfer the CD Text information burned by Toast to the cdinfo database in iTunes. Go to dougscripts.com and download the CD Text to cdinfo applescript that's available there. After installing this appears in the Scripts menu of iTunes and will automate the information transfer.

hey thank you for that response.

the disc i burned in toast is also showing up with the wrong name on the mac desktop.

I deleted the toast plist file,

that made the gacenote dialog appear when i opened the playlist i want to burn.

so i think the problem is how toasts connects to gracenote and being able to disable that function.

after not naming the disc with gracenot the disc is titled audio cd and the tracks are titled just track,

which is fine for me as long as they don't have the wrong names showing up in itunes.

when i put the discs in a car cd i hope they have the right disc info on them.

thanks!

You are welcome. Just to be clear, the information that appears in the Finder is from the Mac's cdinfo database file and not from the disc. If you insert a disc without your Mac connected to the Internet -- or if there is no match in Gracenote -- you'll see the generic titles. The only way to modify the information in the cdinfo database file is to either have it downloaded from Gracenote by the OS or iTunes, or to enter it in iTunes. Apple prohibited Roxio from writing to the cdinfo database file with Toast.

Audio CDs are not a computer file format so they don't store file names the same as other discs.
