Hdmi To Dvi, Audio Assistance!

ZealStarwind

Question

Hey all. This is my first time posting here and I'm having an issue currently.

With my setup I am having to use an HDMI to DVI connector to capture video from my pc to my laptop, I've got the software installed properly and everything I also have the right things done to get it working, my only issue is I cant hear my captured audio as soon as I hit live stream. If I am listening to a stream I can hear it but I cant hear audio in real time from my main pc. I'll give you guys a diagram that'll hopefully help see the setup.

Videocard of main PC>------Dvi to HDMI connector>---hdmi cable------Roxio capture>---- usb cable to capture laptop

Basically my pc's video card only has 2 DVI connections and an S-Video connection, I can hear when I capture using the DVI to HDMI connector then the HDMI to roxio which in turn goes to USB, that's fine, I hit live stream I cant hear anything. I've used the video that is supposed to help with that but I haven't beenable to hear jack with that, just me chatting, I'd actually like to hear the audio from the main pc in real time since it's really hard to play games without audio.

The audio comes through but it doesn't show up on the live stream (friends have watched while I played and told me no sound is heard) the only way I can actually get sound through is when I put my personal audio settings (playback devices) to AMD HDMI Audio Output but then I cant hear my actual game sounds. I dont have a dedicated sound card which some people have told me could be the issue but this is all hearsay and not from actual audio engineers also these people kinda know less about pc's then I do which is why this kinda stumps me.

Everything - both Video and Audio come from the RGC via the USB cord!

I have never streamed so I do not know the in's and outs of it ;)

However, I think everything you need is located in the Pinned Posts in this forum. Check them out, maybe start with the one about hearing audio in streaming...

I did look through the video pinned and saw that certain settings I could set up to make it work yet using a DVI connection with a audio jack out to the Roxio doesn't seem to capture the audio, I have to change the audio of my games and whatnot to AMD HDMI Output as default for it to actually give me audio in the capture (tho livestream just cuts audio out so I'd have to watch my stream on another pc to actually hear it..) but doing that means I cant hear anything through my audio jack through my sound card

It is a bit complicated to explain it seems but in essence I cant get my audio settings to output game sounds through both my sound card and AMD HDMI Audio which is what I think I need to get the results I desire. I'll re-review the videos and look through those posts but it was my initial browsing that came up with nothing and thus putting this post, if you want more pics of the pc's and whatnot I use just let me know, I can get them and maybe it will shed light on this and we can get it solved.

Thank you for all your help thus far mr Guru

Thank you, it's actually my way of looking at it too, for whatever reason it's just not working. I've tested even the basic of parts, switched out for others and it's just not done it, my only thought is that it isn't able to capture left and right channels while in HDMI mode for whatever reason I think it must commit to one mode when using the normal capture software.

has anyone else done the set up I have for live streaming? I wish I could chat with some experts on this but even roxio was like, "Dur, here buy this adapter and it'll work" and didn't do jack, thankfully the company I bought from had a great return policy

Saphire radeon HD 4670, is my vid card and also I realize DVI-D doesn't so I used an audio jack to right/left channels to roxio hd pro and it captures the audio, sorry I did neglect that portion, I am trying to figure out how to listen to the audio in real time.

Not trying to be ungrateful here but that post wasn't helpful at all.

I use a Triton headset and it came with some connectors, that was a male/female left/right channel connector with a female audio jack connector, I'll see if I cant get a picture of it to give a better idea of what I'm talking about. There yea go, the pic I attached has the connection settup I'm using, the male audio jack (black) connects to the left and right channels (black and yellow connectors) the white and red connectors go to the green female audio jack which in turn connects to my headset, this settup should work but for some reason it doesn't seem to want to be working. Is there any settings I am missing currently that would help that? (black and yellow is the same as red and white)
