Constant Verification Errors When Burning Blu-Ray Data Discs

jbrooks

Question

I have the most recent version of Mavericks and Toast 11 Titanium (11.2).

I am trying to burn a Blu-Ray data disc (about 18gb) and I keep getting a "verification error...bad sector" in the same spot. You can actually see a thin dark ring on the Blu-Ray disc after it's done burning.

I used the "Compare" feature and it keeps freezing on the same PhotoShop file, saying that it's unreadable.

Then, I used another person's mac and created the data disc successfully with Toast 10.

Any solutions? I can't seem to find anyone who has the same problem as I do.

I don't get verification errors, but Toast crashes during verification instead, so I have no way of knowing if my disc was successfully burned. This has so far happened for 2 of 8 discs, the other 6 has verified successfully.

Are you using a quality brand of discs? Some discs will fail more than others, and some disc and burner combinations don't work well together. I'm burning TDK BD-R with a Pioneer BDR-XD04T, and this seems to work well when Toast doesn't crash.

you should use other software than toast, it doesn't work well with blu ray discs at all. You will make more coasters than usable discs . I have tried it with 3 different blu ray drives and 5 different brands of discs and can tell you for sure that it is the toast software itself that is the problem. I now use a different burning software than toast and all of my problems went away, the sense errors and all. This Toast software has been steadily getting worse since version 10 and I hate to see what 12 is like. I have been ripped off by Roxio for the last time, they will never get another penny from me. Every year or so they repackage the same old software with a few tweaks and try to sell it to the customers as a new version instead of just making it an upgrade. Then on top of that they advertise blu ray support but to get it you have to buy a blu ray plugin for more money. Their software stinks as much as their shady business practices, and god forbid if you need support! Do yourself a favor and invest in a different blu ray burning software, it will save you a lot of grief.
