Toast Freezes And Wont Playback Through System

crossbones

Question

Hi,

I purchased Toast 11 pro for my Mac.

Mac Pro

OSX.8.4

I have also tried on a Hackintosh running the same OS.

My problem is, when I first launch Toast, it hangs with the spinning beach ball of death (SBBOD)

After about 25 seconds, it frees itself and gives me the start window.

After about 30 seconds, it goes unresponsive again for 24 seconds.

When it gets stable, I cannot seem to get it to play through my system.

My sound output is an Avid HD Native setup for Pro Tools.

Everything else seems to play fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The first thing Toast does when it launches is check for any external drives and audio or video devices. Typically when it has trouble recognizing a device it just freezes with the spinning ball. You might try starting up in safe mode to see if Toast behaves differently. If so, then it is a third-party conflict which is why I was taking a wild guess about the Avid audio. An external camera may also be an issue if you have one. It might be corrupted preferences. Go to your User>Library and trash the Toast plist and prefs files and relaunch Toast. You'll need to go through the Toast setup assistant again but your registration key is remembered. Sorry that I have to guess.
