Bd/hd Plugin For Toast 12 Pro

rardin

Question

After ordering a physical copy of Toast 12 Pro yesterday, I received an email message that included license keys for several components of the Toast package. Unlike when I ordered Toast 11 Pro a few years ago, however, a license key for the BD/HD plugin was NOT included in the message. I noticed that when I registered my copy of Toast 12 Pro this morning, the product was identified as "Roxio Toast 12 with BD plugin," while my previously-registered copy of Toast 11 Pro is identified simply as "Roxio Toast 11 Pro." The BD/HD plugin was registered separately in the case of Toast 11 Pro and appears as a separate line item in my list of registered products. Is the BD/HD plugin included with the Pro version of Toast 12 in such a way that it no longer requires a license key? Or maybe the license key will ship with the physical product? Does anyone happen to know?

I bought Toast Pro 12 today (for $150) and could not make it burn a BluRay, attempt after attempt, though it said it was successfully burning. Included was a tutorial that said 'I'd need a seperate plug in available in pro edition of Toast 11." So, I called Roxio direct today and asked them if we needed this plug in for Toast 12. They said, no, it is already included and activates automatically. But after many more unsuccessful attempts I couldn't figure it out. Then, I found this link to buy the HD/BluRay plug in from Roxio (for $20) and downloaded it anyway, and now the BluRays burn fine.

Check with Roxio customer service. What it sounds like to me is Toast 12 Pro now has a registration key that also enables the installation of the Blu-ray plugin. I also suspect that the Toast 11 Blu-ray plugin works with Toast 12 and would like confirmation of this from someone. Are the Blu-ray video features activated with your Toast 12 without installing the Toast 12 Blu-ray plugin?

My thinking is along the same lines on the single license key that unlocks both the application and BD/HD plugin. I'm also curious about the fact that at least the current BD/HD plugin being offered by Roxio for Toast 12 is backward compatible with Toast 11. I haven't seen confirmation yet from a user that a previously-purchased Toast 11 BD/HD plugin and license key is forward compatible with Toast 12.

Sorry, I neglected to answer tsantee's question about whether or not Blu-ray features are enabled in Toast 12 Pro without installing a plugin. I ordered the physical distribution, so I won't have the software for a few days.

The situation isn't getting any more clear, is it? You should be irritated that you had to shell out an additional $20 to get this working. Just thinking out loud here... Why would Toast act like it's burning a BD if it knows it doesn't have the capability, but work ok after you installed the standalone BD/HD plugin? Is it possible that, for whatever reason, the BD/HD plugin wasn't installed properly when you installed Toast 12 Pro, but that your Pro license key unlocked the BD/HD functionality, as Roxio intends? When installing the standalone BD/HD plugin, were you required to enter the license key that you received when you purchased it?
